Bob Jones, Sr.

Bob Jones Sr. might be in hell for all I know. But you better believe he is smiling. It is not hard to believe his university woulda easily prevailed if this Administration and Supreme Court had been around when he was doing his best to keep the races separate. Not to worry, though, because revenge must be real sweet right about now even if it is a little burnt around the edges.

Last week, the Administration issued 412 pages of proposed regulations billed, with all the banality that could be mustered, as mere housekeeping efforts to increase uniformity and transparency. Comments are due on July 13. And, oh by the way, there ain’t no mention of public hearings.

Uniformity and transparency ain’t what this is about. This is Bob Jones’ revenge, my friends. The proposed regs are the next step to build Bob Jones University “firmly established public policy” against DEI, transgenderism, and woke — whatever those terms may mean. The first step occurred in Students for Fair Admissions, in which the Court declared the consideration of race in college admissions unconstitutional. The Administration used that holding to declare that DEI and anything related to remediating 400 years of slavery and discrimination . . . is discrimination, itself. It did so primarily via a series of executive orders purporting to put an end to all discrimination henceforth and forever. “We’s finally free!”
